Why does my website, or one of my website aliases, keep showing up in my referring sources report? (posted: 8/8/2008)
Often we will see a client’s domain listed in the "Referring Source" report. While this is a valid entry into the log file, it is misleading for the user to see it in this particular report. Users feel that this report should only show external referring sources.
The way to have this data removed from the reports is by listing all of the possible aliases for your site in the “Site Domains” setting in the profile configuration. This setting, in the software, is located on the “Reporting” tab for a profile. In the hosted version of Google Analytics you can only enter one alias for your website domain name (this is done via the "Website URL" field on the "Edit Profile Settings" screen). You must request that GA Tech Support add additional aliases for your domain manually.
